It is my understanding that they continue to make this item (with European compatible wattage)very successfully in Europe.įinally, if you want to invest in a full size model that does nearly everything but wash your clothes and make your bed, consider the Universal Plus (800 watt.) It seems expensive, but you can get it at almost half the price (which equals what you pay for a good KitchenAid) if you look around. recently (2009 or early 2010?), as Americans generally have big kitchens & want BIG stuff. You should know that Bosch decided to NOT manufacture these for the U.S. For this smaller unit, be sure to use the dough hooks for heavy doughs like cookies, etc., so as not to overtax the beater or whisk. Of course, the larger units produce much more bread, etc.as they are bigger (and stronger).
Note that it is 400 watts, unlike it's grown up (bigger) cousins, whose wattage is 700 - 800. For bread makers, this produces 2 loaves of bread per bowl per batch. I like to call this a "mini-might" mixer/processor. Also had a holder for the cutting discs and the beater/whips/ and dough hook.) It is a bit like a "transformer" - a central unit stays the same, but the place of attachment swivels into different positions to accomodate attachments (originally, mixing bowl, blender, citrus juicer, meat grinder, food shredder/cutter/processor, fruit/berry press, etc.
These MUZ4 models have been (and probably still are) the most popular mixers in Europe, where people have smaller houses and efficiency is very important.
